Sunday at the DIA

Lunch followed by a couple exhibits (don't worry Margaret- we will go back when you are in town).  The photography exhibit had a photo done by my current photo instructor.   Also had an interesting musical presentation of Armenian music.

Target was no Green or Orange

Last weekend was Michigan Weavers Guild Dye Workshop.  I wrote my self a note to note use green or orange since for some reason I typically use those two colors when I am dye.  I ended up with more green than I wanted and some peach but I didn't do as bad as I normally do.  Pretty pleased with the outcome.

I dyed both yarn and some shibori scarves.

So I Go to a Plant Sale - And I Come Back With Yarn

I can't stop buying yarn.  I usually do not need what I buy.  Yesterday I went to the Cranbrook Wildflower and Perennial sale.  They have it once a year and have a great selection of wildflowers and some native Michigan perennials.  This year a group of students had a table with some plants that can by used for natural dyes such as madder an calendula.    Of course I bought some of those.  Along with a skein of yarn that they had dyed with Marigolds.

But I also bought way too many plants.  Bought a red trilliam, two types of fern, foam flower and others.  Hopefully I will start planting them tomorrow.

Keeping Babies Warm

Finally finished the baby blankets for the twins.  Gave it to them at their Christening.  They were six months old - at least they were not grown!   Took me a while since I normally sign up for a class where I use one of their bit looms.  Couldn't get into the class so ended up waiting until my friend Chris finished a project on here loom and used that.  Thank you Chris!
