Picture Party

We had a "picture party" at my cousin Rose Margaret's house yesterday with another of my cousins - Margaret.

Brought a box of photos for Rose to identify.  She is a wonderful resource.  Besides relatives on my grandmothers side (my mom's mother and her mother were sisters),  she is also very familiar with my mom's fathers side of the family.  

This picture is a mash up of both sides of the family.  We believe it is taken at by Grandparents wedding.

Took a break but now back to the scanning.  I am sure the gentleman below is from my mothers side but I do not recognize him.  Must be important since I have an 8 x 10 photo.

 The next photo is interesting.  There are not allot of photos of my dad's mother but here is one with her dancing.  Not sure who her partner is but I suspect it is her brother.  She had a couple.

Next is a picture of both sets of grandparents.  They knew each other when their kids were young. In fact in the stash of stuff from my Dad's apartment is a letter written by my Grandma Lolli to my other grandmother.

2014.11.11 Veterans Day

Since my brother had already posted a picture on Facebook of my dad in uniform during WWII I thought I would post a picture of my mom's first cousin who was missing in action during the war.

He went in the Navy in June of '42 and died in August.  He was stationed on a destroyer and was 17 years old.

But since this day really honors the start of WWI here is a family picture from that war.  Not really sure who this is.

2014.11.09 Lost Touch

Most of my family will not recognize most of these people since we lost touch with them after my Grandfather and his brother Gus died.  I remember that we used to go to visit them all the way on the east side of Detroit.  They lived on French Road.

But not all the pictures are here.  Found an envelope of pictures but I see from the negatives that some of the pictures are missing.  The roll is a mixture of Michigan and Ohio.
